What Should You Do If Your Phone Gets Wet?
It’s so unfortunate to accidentally drop your cell phone
in the bucket, or jumped into the pool with it in your pocket, or your phone
get wet whilst walking in the rain or even worse - the toilet which result in you
losing all your photos, videos and conversations. That alone is enough to cause
a mini heart break in some people.
But you don’t have to worry anymore because Bright
Guidance has some good news for you – not all may be lost, and here we
provided you some first aid tips for rescuing your drowned phone.
It might sound obvious to you, but someone might think that it's already too late. However, every second matters and if you are lucky rushing to get it might give a shot at saving your phone.
2. Switch the Phone off
Some brand of mobile phones turned off automatically when
they falls into some water, this will protect the phone from short circuiting.
But if yours doesn't, do not hesitate to turn it off or remove the battery to
shut it down instantly.
3. Take out the Phone battery (if
possible)
Some mobile phones has an inbuilt battery that cannot be
remove, such as an iPhone. But for phones that it’s possible to get the battery
out of the phone, do it without hesitation as removing it will cut the energy
supply which will help to prevent the phone from further damage
4. Remove out the memory card, the
Sims and all other peripherals
Remove all covers and plugs that cover the gaps and slots
in the phone. Pat your phone dry with a microfiber cloth or a towel (it's
recommended not to use paper because the particles can clog in the gaps of the
phone).
5. Put the Phone in a vacuum bag
Put the mobile phone in a plastic bag and stuck out the
air, creating a vacuum effect. Any water that stuck in areas that are difficult
to reach such as the slots and inner parts of the phone can be extracted this
way.
6. Put the Phone in a bowl of uncooked rice (or other absorbent)
Uncooked rice is an absorbent that can help you absorb
the moisture inside the phone. It’s not a myth but using a handkerchief does
not allow you to reach inside the phone. All you need to do is put the mobile
phone and all its other parts in a bowl of uncooked rice and leave it there for
two days. Other alternative materials can be used such as cat litter or silica
gel sachets (usually found in dry foods, vitamins or new shoe boxes).
7. Turn the Phone on… and keep your fingers
crossed
We Bright Guidance are very optimistic and
always believe in a positive outcome. Although technicians warn that the
chances of damage to the phone in case of falling in water are high.
On serious Note you should remember that it’s very
important to give your phone at least two days to dry and resist the urge to
turn it on, because if a tiny water particle remains inside, all your efforts
will be useless. Good luck!
